A Republican senator has been rushed to the hospital due to facial weakness.

Alabama Republican Sen. Katie Britt was rushed to the hospital over the weekend and now faces weeks of recovery for, we she described as a “not life threatening” situation, NBC News reported.

“While with my family in Montgomery this past weekend, I experienced a sudden onset of numbness in my face. I was admitted to Baptist Medical Center South for evaluation. Doctors determined that my symptoms were a result of swelling of a facial nerve, most likely caused by a post-viral infection,” the 41-year-old senator said.

“A specialist from UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham) has subsequently evaluated me on an outpatient basis and concurred with the prognosis and course of treatment,” she said.

“My condition is not life-threatening, and recovery could take several weeks,” the senator said.

“I am grateful for the medical professionals providing excellent care, and my family and I are deeply grateful for your prayers,” she said.

NBC News reported.

The 41-year-old lawmaker is the youngest Republican woman elected to the Senate and the first female senator from Alabama.

Britt served as a top aide to then-Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., before running for his seat after he declined to seek re-election. She defeated then-Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., in a primary runoff for the Senate seat last year and went on to easily defeat her Democratic opponent, Will Boyd, in the general election.

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Britt late in the primary race after souring on Brooks for expressing a desire to move on from the 2020 election, which Trump continued to claim he won.

Britt has said she wants to inspire others to succeed.

“To think that there are little girls and young women across our state who can look at what we have achieved together on this campaign and be inspired — or be instilled with the confidence and hope that they can shoot for the stars and achieve their dreams — is powerful,” Britt said in an interview last year.

Britt’s memoir, “God Calls Us to Do Hard Things,” is coming out on Nov. 7, according to Axios.

The promotional page for the book states that Britt “shares some candid advice for how to overcome personal challenges, appreciate blessed moments, make our lives more fulfilling, and keep an unshakeable faith in God, family, and our country.”

Britt will include recollections from “working long days in her parents’ hardware store, to finding her path at the University of Alabama and marrying the captain of the football team, to an extremely close call with a tornado that destroyed her house while she held her baby in her arms, to her upstart campaign for Senate,” the publisher says.

“At a moment when politics feel so toxic and broken,” Britt will encourage readers “to listen to your heart, serve and inspire,” the announcement says.

On Jun 10, 2022 former President Donald Trump endorsed Sen. Britt.

“Last year I endorsed Mo Brooks for the U.S. Senate because I thought he was a Fighter, especially when it came to the Rigged and Stolen Presidential Election of 2020.  The evidence is irrefutable.  Then, out of nowhere, and for seemingly no reason, Mo backtracked and made a big mistake by going Woke at our massive Cullman, Alabama Rally.  Instead of denouncing the Voter Fraud in the Election, Mo lectured the crowd of 63,000 people saying, “Put that behind you, put that behind you,” meaning that, in effect, forget the Rigged Election and go on to the future.  The problem is, if you do that, it will happen again.  Also, why do Republicans allow Democrats to get away with rigging and stealing elections?  Mo was strongly booed by tens of thousands of Great Alabama Patriots for abandoning his constituents, and what they know to be true about the Election Fraud.  He foolishly started listening to the wrong consultants and not to the people, and his 54-point lead evaporated overnight.  Likewise, his words caused me to withdraw my Endorsement, and Mo has been wanting it back ever since—but I cannot give it to him!” he said.

“Katie Britt, on the other hand, is a fearless America First Warrior.  The opposition says Katie is close to Mitch McConnell, but actually, she is not—in fact, she believes that McConnell put Mike Durant in the race to stop her, which is very possibly true.  Katie is an Incredible Fighter for the people of Alabama.  As President and CEO of Alabama’s Business Council, Katie has been working hard to Grow Alabama’s Economy, Create Jobs, and Restore the Great American Dream.  She has the Total Support and Endorsement of Chairman Jimmy Parnell and the Alabama Farmers Federation,” the former president said.

“The proud mother of two wonderful children, Katie, along with her great husband, Wesley, a Star at the University of Alabama and the New England Patriots, are True Champions for the American Family.  Katie Strongly Supports our under siege Second Amendment, Stands Up for Parental Rights, and Will Fight for our Military, our Vets, and Election Integrity,” he said.
