Republican Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick believes that there is a “deep state” conspiracy headed by former President Obama that will see President Joe Biden removed from the presidential ballot.
The Lieutenant Governor said that he believes Biden will be removed, or made to step aside, so that the Democrats would have their best chance at defeating the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, former President Donald Trump.
“I’ve said for over a year many times that Joe Biden would not be on the ticket and Michelle Obama would be the likely nominee. It’s clear the Democrat deep state run by Barack Obama knew they had to take him down to give them a chance in November,” he said on X, formerly Twitter.
Patrick referred to the controversy when a report from a special counsel appointed by former President Donald Trump stated that Biden would not face criminal charges for handling classified documents outside of a secure setting.
The report was damning for the president, saying that his memory loss went back to his time as vice president.
“Mr. Biden will likely present himself to the jury, as he did during his interview with our office, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” Special Counsel Robert Hur wrote in explaining his rationale for refusing prosecution. “…It would be difficult to convince a jury they should convict him – by then a former president who will be at least well into his eighties – of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.”
“Our investigation uncovered evidence that President Biden willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen,” the report said, adding that Biden also could not recall the years he served as vice president or the year his son, Beau, died of brain cancer.
