Fox News host Greg Gutfeld is riding a wave of popularity and defeating competition that has stunned many. His late-night comedy show “Gutfeld!” brought in 2.2 million total viewers on Tuesday night, beating “The Ingraham Angle,” which aired just before the show.

“Gutfeld! was the 6th highest-rated show overall on cable news in total viewers and the 3rd highest-rated in the key 25-54 age demographic — behind Tucker Carlson and The Five — which was co-hosted by Greg Gutfeld. In the 11 p.m. hour, Gutfled! crushed its cable news competition as CNN brought in only 371,000 total viewers and MSNBC scored 972,000,” Mediaite reported.

Gutfeld has been a ratings champion for Fox News with “The Five,” a show he cohosts, as the top show in cable news. In January, the comedian managed to win two of the top three shows on cable news in the key 25-54 age demographic.

“The Five” topped the charts in the demo with 448,000 demo viewers, Mediate reported. Meanwhile, Tucker Carlson landed in second place with 407,000 demo viewers, while Gutfeld! came in third with 379,000.

The show became the most watched show in cable news, averaging a total audience of 3.332 million viewers for the week that ended January 22nd, Nielsen ratings showed, Forbes reported.

“After The Five, the highest-rated shows of the week were Tucker Carlson Tonight (3.086 million viewers), Jesse Watters Primetime (2.647 million viewers), Hannity (2.386 million viewers), and Special Report with Bret Baier (2.367 million viewers)—all airing on the Fox News Channel,” the report said.

Forbes reported: “In prime time, Fox News led the cable news networks with an average total audience of 1.996 million viewers—beating CNN and MSNBC combined. Overall, Fox had fully 92 of the 100 highest-rated cable news telecasts for the week. Among viewers 25-54, the demographic group most valued by advertisers, Tucker Carlson Tonight was first with 442,000 viewers, followed by The Five (374,000 viewers), Hannity (303,000 viewers), Jesse Watters Primetime (266,000 viewers) and Special Report with Bret Baier (256,000 viewers).”

Late-night host and comedian Jimmy Fallon recently secured a huge contract extension from NBC to continue his show into the foreseeable future but the network now regrets making the $80 million deal. And not surprisingly, it’s a Fox News personality that is to blame.

Radar Online reports that sources told the outlet Greg Gutfeld’s late-night offering on Fox News now regularly beats Fallon’s “Tonight Show” in the ratings, “the TV flop’s sinking number has left NBC brass with buyer’s remorse.”

The outlet reported: “Nearly 19 months after the Peacock Network handed Fallon a whopping $80 million five-year contract extension, The Tonight Show is drawing under 1.3 million eyeballs — less than half the audience of upstart Gutfeld! But that number is even more shocking when compared to Fallon’s celebrated debut! The Saturday Night Live alum, 48, chalked up an impressive 11 million viewers when he first took over for outgoing legend Jay Leno — but now he’s also being bested in the ratings by Stephen Colbert’s CBS Late Show!”

“The network knows the days are gone when tens of millions of people would tune in for The Tonight Show — but they were counting on Jimmy to do better than this!” the source told Radar Online.

In a December press release, Fox News reflected on the huge success of “Gutfeld!”:

“In 2022, FNC’s late-night program Gutfeld! delivered its most-watched year ever and continued to upend the genre, becoming the first late-night show to unseat CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in viewers for a full month since 2017. The program held nearly 30% of the late-night audience share this year, increasing its audience year over year. Gutfeld! has been the highest rated late-night program in all of television since August and finished 2022 as the second most-watched host in late-night television,” the outlet reported.

“FNC’s Gutfeld! (weekdays, 11 PM/ET) averaged 2,045,000 viewers (+28%) and 345,000 (+12%) in A25-54, posting double digit gains since 2021 in both categories and topping NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! in viewers. Additionally, Gutfeld! beats all of cable late night in viewers, A25-54 and the younger A18-49 demo, including Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, HBO’s Last Week Tonight, and Real Time with Bill Maher,” the outlet added.
