Former President Donald Trump’s record in endorsing ‘MAGA’ Republican candidates for office is stunningly good, and now he has made his decision on a key U.S. Senate race in the new battleground state of Arizona.
After trending red for nearly two decades, both of the state’s U.S. senators are Democrats, even though the vast majority of state-level elected office holders are Republicans as is the majority of Arizona’s U.S. House delegation.
That said, picking someone who can beat incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly, a Democrat, is vital to ensuring that at least one of the Grand Canyon State’s senators are Republican, which would go a long way towards flipping the Senate back to red and thwarting President Joe Biden’s leftist agenda.
As such, Trump has sided with Blake Masters over current state Attorney General Mark Brnovich, whom several political observers believed would get the nod.
“Blake Masters is one of the most successful businessmen and investors in the Country, having led a multibillion-dollar firm that invests in new technology and many other emerging companies. In addition, he runs a nonprofit foundation that promotes science and innovation. In other words, he is a great modern-day thinker! A graduate of Stanford University and Stanford University Law School, a fantastic student, Blake is also the author of The New York Times bestseller, ‘Zero to One,’” Trump told supporters in an email.
“Despite having such an amazing business career and wonderful family, Blake has decided that he wants to make a difference for the people of our Country, and is therefore running for the United States Senate from the Great State of Arizona,” Trump added.
“Blake is Strong on Border Security, in particular, the disastrous Southern Border where people are pouring into the U.S. by the millions, and destroying our Country. Just two years ago, with the help of the Wall, we had the Strongest Border in the history of our Country, and now we have the weakest—Blake will turn that around quickly,” the 45th president continued.
“Additionally, he will Cut Taxes and Regulations, be Tough on Crime, and Support our Military and our Vets. Blake will fight for our totally under-siege Second Amendment, and WIN!” Trump said before calling Brnovich a “disappointment.”
“It is my great honor to give Blake Masters my Complete and Total Endorsement!” he said.
Interestingly, Masters was running third among the top three Republicans running in the primary. The Western Journal notes:
A Trafalgar poll of likely Republican voters for 2022 found 24.8 percent support for Jim Lamon, 23.9 percent support for Mark Brnovich and 19.4 percent support for Masters.
A whopping 20.6 percent of voters were undecided. Masters likely hopes to turn Trump’s endorsement into widespread support from those voters. The poll had 1,064 respondents, a margin of error of 2.99 percent and a 95 percent confidence rating.
In December, Masters told Fox News host Tucker Carlson it is time to ban Congress from stock trading, comments made after it appeared that Paul Pelosi, husband to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, made a well-timed trade.
“I mean, naughty Nancy, my goodness. She’s at it again — trading stocks, breaking laws. Tucker, I think Nancy Pelosi is the poster child for the rot and corruption in our politics. She uses her high office to enrich herself. [She] and her husband, they make tens of millions of dollars every year trading stocks,” Masters said.
“Look at her record — she’s outperforming Warren Buffett. She’s the best investor in the world. And how does that happen? Could it be because she has nonpublic information about these companies? I mean, this is disgusting, and I don’t think we can trust these people to regulate themselves,” he continued.
“We can’t trust them to police themselves. And so we just have to ban it. We need to ban individual Congress members from owning and trading stocks. It’s just that simple,” he added.
Last month, he told Fox News’ Jesse Watters that the U.S. under President Biden and Democrats is “on track to be a third-world country.”
“It pains me to say it, but at this current trajectory, America is on track to be a third-world country by the time my boys are in high school,” he said. “I won’t stand for it.”
Democrats “like it this way. It’s almost this intentional destruction of the country,” he said, later adding that people “are just pissed off and they want stuff to work.”
“But the Left… they have all the power right now. And they have just trashed this country in less than two years. They’ve actually done it with astonishing speed,” he said, going on to criticize Biden’s lax border enforcement policies that have led to record illegal immigration and smuggling of dangerous drugs including fentanyl.
