The Paul Pelosi attack was actually a kidnapping plot against Speaker Nancy Pelosi, according to the FBI’s Criminal Complaint on the matter.

The suspect, David DePape, is expected to be charged with attacking Paul Pelosi and attempting to “seize or kidnap a United States official, to wit, Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.”

The FBI’s account of the Paul Pelosi attack further complicates a story that was already convoluted due to conflicting accounts.

DePape is now said to have entered the domicile in “all black, carrying a large black bag on his back,” where he was spotted by a witness who working private security at an address nearby. This witness “heard what sounded like banging on either a door or car and then heard the sirens within a minute or two.”

DePape entered the Speaker’s residence seeking out “Nancy,” and accosted Pelosi while he was sleeping in his underwear. The suspect allegedly wanted to “kneecap” Speaker Pelosi.

Paul Pelosi, according to the FBI account, was somehow “able to go into the bathroom which is when he was able to call 9-1-1.” Pelosi stated that when the officers arrived, that was when DePape struck him with the hammer.

It was not explained how or why DePape was not in the bathroom waiting for police to arrive.

While the San Francisco police dispute that there was an unknown third person that opened the door for the police, the FBI report describes how police entered the home in passive voice.

At 2:31 a.m., San Francisco Police Department (“SFPD”) Officer Colby Wilmes responded to the Pelosi residence, California and knocked on the front door. When the door was opened, Pelosi and DEPAPE were both holding a hammer with one hand and DEPAPE had his other hand holding onto Pelosi’s forearm. Pelosi greeted the officers. The officers asked them what was going on. DEPAPE responded that everything was good. Officers then asked Pelosi and DEPAPE to drop the hammer.

The FBI then claims that police entered when DePape “pulled the hammer from Pelosi’s hand and swung the hammer, striking Pelosi in the head.” Officers “immediately went inside and were able to restrain DePape.”

It is also being disputed that DePape was in his underwear, contrary to initial mainstream media reporting, and he was instead wearing “shorts.”

However, the incident was allegedly captured on police bodycam and the simplest way to resolve the ambiguity is to simply release the body cam footage, as lawyer Viva Frei points out.

Contrary to the police dispatcher call that I earlier reported, David is not characterized as a “friend” of Pelosi.

“Pelosi further conveyed that he does not know who the male is,” the FBI agent stated. “The male said his name is David.”

Law enforcement searched DePape’s backpack at the Pelosi residence, stashed near the broken laminated glass door, and they found, among other things, a roll of tape, white rope, one hammer, one pair of rubber and cloth gloves, and a journal.

In terms of motive, DePape  alleged “viewed Nancy as ‘the leader of the pack’ of lies told by the Democratic Party,” the FBI agent wrote in court documents. By “breaking Nancy’s kneecaps, she would then have to be wheeled into Congress, which would show other Members of Congress there were consequences to actions.”

During the altercation, DePape allegedly compared himself to America’s Founding Fathers.

While talking with each other, Pelosi went into a bathroom, where Pelosi grabbed a phone to call 9-1-1. DEPAPE stated he felt like Pelosi’s actions compelled him to respond. DEPAPE remembered thinking that there was no way the police were going to forget about the phone call. DEPAPE explained that he did not leave after Pelosi’s call to 9-1-1 because, much like the American founding fathers with the British, he was fighting against tyranny without the option of surrender. DEPAPE reiterated this sentiment elsewhere in the interview.

However, the suspected assailant, David DePape, is a Canadian illegal immigrant with a “longtime” visa overstay, according to Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin.
