As if anyone cared, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has confirmed her engagement to her longtime boyfriend in a video on Instagram.

“It’s true! Thank you all for the well wishes,” she said on Twitter.

“We got engaged last month in my family’s hometown in Puerto Rico,” she said in another tweet that has since been deleted. “No future details yet, we’re taking some space to savor this time before diving into planning.”

“Vamoooooooos . Your ring gotta be made of tinfoil otherwise the right’s gonna flip,” one reporter said, commenting on the ring.

“Close! It’s zero emission and recycled gold,” the representative responded.

But other Twitter users were not as kind.

“4 years ago you said the planet was ending in 12 years due to climate change. Green Energy isn’t even close to viable. The destruction of oil for political control has only brought America to its knees with no reduction in emissions. Why get married if there’s only 8 years left?” Nicholas Tutora said.

“Congrats to AOC on getting engaged. They met on the popular dating app OKAY Stupid,” Jimmy Failla said.

“Congratulations to the happy couple…I wonder how long it will be before he has her baby!” another Twitter user said.

“Maybe she’ll honeymoon in Russia like Bernie,” another said.

“Somebody make sure @elonmusk is ok,” Lavern Spicer said.

That comment came weeks after Elon Musk quipped that the representative wanted him.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made a comment that he believed was directed to him and he smoked her with one sentence.

“Tired of having to collectively stress about what explosion of hate crimes is happening bc some billionaire with an ego problem unilaterally controls a massive communication platform and skews it because Tucker Carlson or Peter Thiel took him to dinner and made him feel special,” she said.

With a war between Russia and Ukraine, inflation hitting records and people struggling to make ends meet this is an interesting thing to be stressed about.

But Musk had the perfect response to her.

“Stop hitting on me, I’m really shy,” he said with a blushing emoji.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez initially responded to his tweet with “I was talking about Zuckerberg but ok,” but then she deleted the tweet.

Before those tweets were other by Rep. Ocasio-Cortez that appeared to be swipes at Musk on Friday.

“Billionaires be like ‘the extreme far left is taking over’ when the ‘extreme far left’ in the US is ‘medicine shouldn’t bankrupt you,’ ‘ wages should cover rent,’ & ‘maybe it’s bad that Wall St companies profit off mass surveillance, manufactured housing crises, and caging people,’” she said.

“The number of billionaires in the US couldn’t even fill an apartment building, but the number of people they negatively impact is only growing. All the US billionaire votes combined couldn’t even come in 2nd for an NY city council election. That’s why they stay pressed,” she said.

Those tweets were likely a response to tweets Musk made that shredded the far left.

“The far left hates everyone, themselves included!” he tweeted. He later followed that with another tweet giving a tepid condemnation of the “far-right.”

“But I’m no fan of the far right either. Let’s have less hate and more love,” he said.

And he sent another tweet that said “I strongly supported Obama for President, but today’s Democratic Party has been hijacked by extremists.”

It came after a tweet he sent on Thursday where he showed himself becoming more right-leaning.

The tweet was a drawing of stick figures. One represents a liberal, another represents a conservative, and one represents Musk.

The meme shows him in 2008 being left of center and the liberal with a caption that said: “my fellow liberal.”

On the next line it shows 2012 and Musk is in the same place, but as the sides get more extreme and the center moves Musk is now only slightly to the left of the center and the liberal is now further away with the caption “my fellow liberal?” this time posed as a question.

By the line that shows 2021, it shows the center moving far to the left and Musk now being closer to the conservative and on the right of center with the liberal now labeled as a “’ woke’ progressive’ and calling him a “bigot.”
